2018-04-04 18:34

On April 3, Ambassador Wu Xi presented the working copy of her Letter of Credence to credentials to Mr Michael Swain, the Chief of Protocol of New Zealand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Ambassador Wu noted that she is honored to serve as the 13th Ambassador of China to New Zealand, and that she is determined to work hard to promote the development of China–New Zealand relations. China attaches great importance to its relationship with New Zealand. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries almost 46 years ago, bilateral relations have been progressing smoothly, creating many ‘firsts’ in China’s relations with Western developed countries. China is willing to join hands with New Zealand to further develop the relationship in a sustainable, stable and healthy manner.

On behalf of the New Zealand Government, Michael Swain welcomed Ambassador Wu and noted that the New Zealand side will provide support and help to her work. New Zealand values its relationship with China. Under the current circumstances, the two countries, building on what has been achieved over the years, will continue to promote bilateral relations for greater progress.
