On May 14, Ambassador Wu Xi met with New Zealand Prime Minister Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern in Auckland and exchanged views on China-New Zealand relations.

Ambassador Wu noted that since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and New Zealand, cooperation in various fields has continued to expand, bringing tangible benefits to both countries and their people while making positive contributions to regional peace and development. China attaches great importance to the development of China-New Zealand relations and will continue to promote bilateral relations on the basis of mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.

Prime Minister Ardern noted that the development of New Zealand-China relations has benefited both countries. The two sides have accomplished significant cooperative achievements not only in trade but also in other fields including tourism and education. In particular, the conclusion of the New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreement has brought significant interests to both countries. Prime Minister Ardern noted that she met with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang respectively during the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Vietnam and the East Asia Summit in the Philippines. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on the further development of China-New Zealand relations. Prime Minister Ardern and the New Zealand Government attach great importance to developing relations with China and are looking forward to more accomplishments in the bilateral relations.
