Ambassador Wu Xi meets with New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Winston Peters

On May 23, HE Ambassador Wu Xi met with New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rt Hon Winston Peters. The two sides exchanged views on a range of issues including China-New Zealand relations.

Ambassador Wu welcomed Mr Peters to visit China, noting that tremendous progress has been made in China-New Zealand relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties. The China-New Zealand relationship has created multiple ‘firsts’ in China’s relations with developed countries, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples while making positive contributions to peace, stability and development in the Asian Pacific region. China attaches great importance to China-New Zealand relations and stands ready to work with the New Zealand side to promote bilateral relations to a new level on the basis of mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation.

Mr Peters noted that he is pleased to be invited to visit China and is looking forward to exchanging views with China on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern. The New Zealand side attaches importance to its relations with China and has always been adhering to One China Policy. The New Zealand side is willing to work with the Chinese side to deepen bilateral practical cooperation in various fields and further push forward the bilateral relationship.
