In response to the announcement made by Civil Aviation Administration of China, General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China on 20 July, in an effort to ensure the health and safety of international travels, and to reduce the risk of the cross-border transmission of COVID-19, the announcement also requires Chinese Diplomatic Missions in overseas to carefully assess the testing capacity of host countries and formulate travel procedures when testing conditions are met. The Chinese Embassy in New Zealand is actively preparing for implementation of the announcement. The detailed information will be made available through the official website and the official WeChat Account.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Diplomatic Missions in New Zealand are still processing visa applications accordingly to the Announcement of Temporary Suspension of Entry for Foreign Nationals Holding Valid Chinese Visas or Residence Permits announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China and the National Immigration Administration on 26 March 2020. The current procedures of visa applications and eligibility criteria remain unchanged until further notice.
