Li Keqiang Meets with President Mauricio Macri of Argentina

On the afternoon of May 17, 2017, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Mauricio Macri of Argentina, who was in China for a state visit and the attendance at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

Li Keqiang expressed that both countries have always been steadily moving forward since the establishment of diplomatic relations 45 years ago. President Xi Jinping has met with Mr. President several times, vigorously promoting the development of bilateral relations. China is willing to, together with Argentina, adhere to mutual respect and equal treatment, continuously enhance political mutual trust, intensify mutually beneficial cooperation, and strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to expand common interests and boost common development.

Li Keqiang pointed out that as both emerging market economies, China and Argentina share broad prospects for cooperation. The Chinese side is ready to work with Argentina to expand the opening up of each other's market, promote balanced development of bilateral trade, and jointly facilitate trade and investment liberalization and facilitation. Both countries should enhance cooperation in infrastructure construction and production capacity, as well as deepen cooperation in such areas as energy, mining, agriculture, finance, middle and small-sized enterprises, in a bid to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Li Keqiang stressed that China supports the economic integration in Latin-America, and is willing to make joint efforts with all countries in Latin America including Argentina, boost the continuous development of China-Latin America relations and also contribute to regional and world peace, stability and development.

Mauricio Macri expressed that the development of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership is of great significance to Argentina. Both economies are highly complementary to each other and mutually beneficial cooperation enjoys huge potential. Argentina stands ready to speed up the pace of cooperation, enhance cooperation in such areas as infrastructure construction, agricultural products, nuclear power, finance and tourism and promote balanced growth of trade with China, so as to achieve common development. Argentina welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in the country and is willing to actively advance the economic and trade cooperation in various forms between the Common Market of the South (Mercosur) and China, in a bid to promote the in-depth development of the overall relations between Latin America and China.
