Political Counsellor Qu Guangzhou attends the opening ceremony of Skykiwi.com's Wellington office

On September 14th, the opening ceremony of Skykiwi.com's Wellington office was held in Wellington. Political Counsellor Qu Guangzhou was invited to attend and delivered a speech. About 150 people attended the event, including the Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives, the Right Honorable David Carter; the Mayor of Wellington, Justin Lester; and representatives from the New Zealand Government and Chinese community. Video clips of a written congratulatory message from Ambassador Wang Lutong and congratulatory messages from Speaker Carter and other MPs were played in the event.

Political Counsellor Qu Guangzhou, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand and Ambassador Wang Lutong, congratulated Skykiwi.com on the opening of its Wellington office. Counsellor Qu made positive comments on Skykiwi.com's role as a bridge and link in promoting Chinese culture, serving the Chinese community and enhancing friendship between China and New Zealand. Counsellor Qu hoped that Skykiwi.com's Wellington office would focus on Wellington as a political and cultural center to provide news reports and information from an objective, impartial and comprehensive perspective that would better serve the Chinese community in Wellington. Counsellor Qu expected that Skykiwi.com could make greater contributions to enrich multiculturalism in New Zealand and promote bilateral relations between the two countries.

In their speeches, Speaker Carter and Mayor Lester fully affirmed the contribution made by the Chinese community and Skykiwi.com to New Zealand's economic, cultural and social development, hoping Skykiwi.com could continue to exert its influence in making more contributions to enhance understanding among ethnic groups in New Zealand. Mayor Lester also welcomes more Chinese friends to Wellington, to visit, study and live there.
