HE Ms Wu Xi, China's new Ambassador to New Zealand, the Cook Islands and Niue, presents her Letter of Credence to Premier of Niue Toke Talagi

On July 23, 2018, HE Ms Wu Xi, China’s new Ambassador to New Zealand, the Cook Islands and Niue, presented her Letter of Credence to the Premier of Niue Hon Sir Toke Talagi in Alofi, the capital of Niue. Also present at the meeting were Niue’s Minster of Infrastructure Hon Pokotoa Sipeli and Minster of Natural Resources Hon Dalton Tagelagi.

Ambassador Wu conveyed the cordial regards of President Xi Jinping to Premier Talagi. Premier Talagi expressed his thanks and asked Ambassador Wu to convey his sincere greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping.

Ambassador Wu noted that China attaches great importance to its relations with Niue and appreciates Niue’s adherence to one-China policy. With the joint efforts of the two sides, bilateral relations have maintained sound momentum of development. China would like to work with Niue to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and promote China-Niue relations to a new level for the benefit of the two peoples while making positive contributions to the peace, stability and prosperity in the Asia Pacific region and beyond.

On behalf of the Niue Government, Premier Talagi expressed his warm welcome to Ambassador Wu. He noted that Niue appreciates the selfless assistance provided by China over the years and reiterated that Niue will, as always, firmly adhere to One China Policy. Niue is keen to work closely with China to further advance bilateral relations and achieve common development and prosperity.
